Amar Abdisamed, a Grade 8 student at Ottawa Islamic School in west Ottawa, created a project on how to cure cancer with nanotechnology.

The Sandy Hill resident lost his grandfather to brain cancer and his uncle to lung cancer.

“I wanted to use my education (to) find a cure,” said Amar. “(Nanotechnology) can help any stage of cancer because it completely destroys the tumour” without affecting the healthy cells surrounding the diseased area.
